FROM THE SERVANT GENERAL

SYNODOS

(Part 12)

December 10, 2014

The Lineamenta has been released, though for now only in Italian. The Lineamenta takes off from the Relatio Synodi which was the final document of the III Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops last October. This text will be the basis of discussions throughout the Catholic world, with inputs to be submitted to the Vatican by April 2015. These inputs will be part of the Instrumentum Laboris, which will be the working document for the XIV General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2015.

The theme on the family is of extreme importance to us, to the Church, and to the world. So we should do the following:

(1)   Study the Lineamenta. This is also an opportunity to better know our faith, especially in relation to family and life.

(2)   Participate in discussions and submission of inputs in whatever way we can.

(3)   Start to pray for the upcoming synod and the bishops who will be participating in it.

The outcome of the 2015 synod will affect our families and the generations after us, for better or for worse. Our life and mission is to help renew the family and to defend life. This is why CFC-FFL exists. With modernists already within the Church, we must be vigilant, knowledgeable of the authentic teaching of our Church, bold in witness, and assertive in fighting for Judeo-Christian values.

With all the above, our work of evangelization is likewise crucial. Catholics need conversion to Christ in order to be able to see the truths of authentic faith.

Synod '15: Holy See Releases Preparatory Document for Upcoming Synod

Includes Questions on Themes Discussed at Extraordinary Synod on the Family

By Junno Arocho Esteves

ROME, December 09, 2014 ( Zenit.org ) - In preparation for next year's General Ordinary Synod of Bishops, the Holy See has released  the "Lineamenta", a document that lays out the framework of discussions for the meeting.

The XIV General Ordinary Assembly of the Synod on Bishops will take place from October 4 – 25, 2015, and will discuss the theme: "The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world."

The "Lineamenta" – or preparatory document – lays down the points made in the Relatio Synodi of the Extraordinary Synod along with questions that will go further in depth on the themes discussed.

In a statement released by the Holy See, the Secretary General of the Synod stated that the preparatory document will "help to continue the Synodal path that has already begun and to prepare the upcoming Instrumentum laboris of the next Ordinary Assembly."

"The composed document – which is published today in Italian – will be sent to the Episcopal Conferences, the Synods of the Eastern Catholic Churches sui iuris, the Unions of Religious Superiors and the Dicasteries of the Roman Curia," the statement read.

The ecclesial bodies that have received the documents will hand in the results and answers to the Lineamenta by April 15, 2015. Their responses will then be studied and implemented in the forthcoming Instrumentum Laboris.

The Holy Father has also called on dioceses and Episcopal conferences to continue praying for the upcoming Synod, especially on December 28th, Feast of the Holy Family.

WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO

Through all of our 29 years, we have spoken much of our vision and mission, who we are, what we are called to do. We know that we are an evangelistic and missionary community. This has been true from the very beginning and has never changed. We do our work within the context of family renewal. That is one distinct factor that distinguishes us from other renewal movements.

Books and Magazines

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The Eucharist is the greatest gift God gives to His people. The Eucharist is our path to holiness and Christian perfection. The Eucharist is crucial to our work of the New Evangelization. We must have greater understanding and appreciation of the Eucharist, so that we can go forth and truly be effective witnesses to salvation in Jesus.

Servant leadership is crucial to our work of building up community and of doing a massive work of evangelization. Unfortunately, many who are leaders in our Church today may not have the heart of a servant. But Jesus, our Lord and Master, came not to be served but to serve. He is our main model.
